You Brain Is A Habit Hoarder

Hi email friend,

Habits are not easy to break, If they were easy no one would be eating those terrible snacks and everyone would be healthy.

So here's the truth ( and the science behind it ):

Your brain is really a habit hoarder. Once it finds something familiar, it refuses to throw it away-even if it's emotional junk from 2012. Research show us about 40% of what we do everyday is automatic. Believe it or not your brain loves habits because it saves energy. And no-your brain doesn't care if the habit is good for you. Your brain just wants comfort, snacks, and predictability.

Every Habit Runs On The Same System

Cue-Behavior-Reward here are some examples:

  • Cue: stress
  • Behavior: scrolling, snacking, or dramatic sighing
  • Reward: brief relief + zero solutions

You can outsmart your brain here is how: Don't delete the habit. Replace the middle, the behavior.

Keep the cue. Swap the behavior. And keep the reward.

Stress-walk, stretch, breathe, laugh

Its the relief but with less regret.

Now let's talk about your thoughts- because yes, your brain replays those also. Science says the thoughts you repeat become the thoughts your brain prefers. Negative thoughts get the VIP access because they're familiar. They are not helpful-just familiar.

Good energy doesn't mean "everything is amazing." It means choosing thoughts that don't ruin your mood for no reason.

Try this:

  • Catch the thought
  • Pause for 5 seconds (this calms your nervous system)
  • Upgrade the thought slightly

Here are a few examples:

Change your thought from "I'm a failure." to "This is annoying.... but I am learning."

Congratulations! You just changed your thought process a little.

You don't need more motivation. You need awareness, repetition, and a sense of humor with yourself.

Growth is a little easier when you stop taking your bad habits personally.

My book The Frequency of Life walks with you through how to shift habits, thoughts and energy-without becoming a morning person or pretending you love kale.

Think of it as a friendly guide for upgrading your mindset....with fewer lectures and more of "oh wow, that makes sense."

Grab your copy of The Frequency of Life and start raising your energy-one habit at a time.

Stay aligned,
